BMW Cooling System repairs
Every car has a cooling system, whether its air or water. In BMW this system is quite complicated and advanced to insure optimal cooling while maintaining optimal performance and emissions. Such fine instruments in the BMW occasionally malfunction or simply require servicing. We offer all kinds of service related to BMW cooling system repairs. Whether it’s something as simple as a cooling system flush or pressure test or rather more involved such as a water pump replacement. In the newer BMW’s, the manufacturer began using electronic water pumps. While there is pros and cons, usually we see these begin to fail around 60,000 miles. We also recommend flushing your coolant with a factory approved coolant, at our shop we only use BMW coolant. The manufacturer designed all the components and seals to function properly with this coolant and if one changes the coolant not only can damage occur to the seals but also you may experience different boiling points that may also adversely affect the performance of the cooling system. Not only is flushing coolant good to maintain proper cooling properties, it also ensures no contamination so that the seals and water pump is not damaged prematurely.
The most common BMW cooling system repairs is replacement of cooling hoses. This happens in all cars with age, especially in the San Diego heat the cooling and heating of rubber over years will slowly deplete the integrity of the hoses thus requiring replacement. Regardless, insuring a sealed system is vital so that you do not lose coolant and overheat the engine. Engine overheating can result in catastrophic damage to the internals and may end up costing you a new engine. Unfortunately we have seen this happen, an individual may try to save a few hundred resulting in thousands more in expenses. If you take pride in your BMW don’t take a chance with your cooling system. Make sure your system is checked periodically for any leaks.
BMW cooling system repair also includes thermostats. As with most things in a BMW the thermostat is a little more complicated than that found in a domestic vehicle. An improperly working thermostat may stop the coolant from flowing properly through the system and having one side get extremely hot, causing the car to overheat. Radiators also occasionally leak in BMWs as well as expansion tanks. We often see that cheap aftermarket expansion tanks leak about a year after replacement. Make sure you have good quality parts installed and not cheap knockoffs. We believe in saving money where you can, but in certain vital components it’s better to chose quality over price. Regardless of what is going on with your vehicle we are able to tackle any of your cooling issues in your BMW big or small.
I have been using San Diego Bimmer MB since 1994. They are reasonable and honest and the mechanics are knowledgeable. Andy, Eva and Conrad are a pleasure to work with and go out of their way to accomodate my needs. i highly recommend their business. Molly McConnell
Really Great service here. I was in a time crunch and the guy (young tall male) expedited the process for me. Seemed like a family run business, everyone very friendly and accomodating. I would certainly go back, and am referring my roommates and friends go there when they need to as well!
Took my Nissan Altima in because it had a small, but growing, oil leak. They fixed it rather quickly and for much cheaper than a quote I received from another shop. I would recommend them to anyone. Infact, once the manufacturer's warranty is over on my other car, I will probably start taking it here!
They are great!!! I take my Mercedes only to them now. Real parts, great honest people, don't be fooled by the building they know what they are doing and at half the cost or more than the dealer!!!!!!!!
a small dinky lot with excellent customer service and great work on very technical, module related work on recent Audis. A great experience after a number of major let downs from the only Audi dealership on a very shiny lot within 20 miles.
I have been going to Adams Avenue Imports for years and highly recommend them. First I was taking my Toyota Camry and more recently my Audi A4. They have always fixed whatever problem I've had for a fair price in a reasonable amount of time. They are a pleasure to deal with - honest, reliable and even kind.... Recently I had an estimate for work from the dealer, and Adams Ave. Imports did the same work for a much lower rate. They are good people who do good work.
